Interactive Web Map Demonstration Project

This is an example of interactive web-based maps that the LSRWA is looking forward to implementing.  This project was part of an ecological restoration plan developed by Applied Ecological Services in Brodhead, WI.  Although located in the adjoining Pecatonica River Watershed, it demonstrates exciting new interactive mapping capabilities using ArcGIS Online mapping services.  While using a base map similar to Google Maps, multiple data layers such as points, lines, polygons, and imagery can be added and queried with the click of a mouse.  Different combinations of these layers can be viewed by simply turning any of them on or off from the Layers drop-down list available on the toolbar at the top of the page.  Pan and zoom functions work just like Google Maps.  Feel free to explore this demonstration map and provide feedback on how and where it could be applied to the Lower Sugar River Watershed.  We welcome comments via Facebook or email.

Interactive Story Map Demonstration

The Story Map is another innovative application available through ArcGIS Online and one that LSRWA would like to implement.  A Story Map is simply the linking of multi-media elements such as video, pictures, or documents to locations on a map to deliver a message or tell a story.  A demonstration story map was developed for a field tour of the same project area as the web map above and can be viewed by clicking on the link below.  The map is panned and zoomable just like any web map.  Even though videos are the only story elements included here, there are many more possibilities.  Please visit this Story Map and let us know how you think we could implement it in the Lower Sugar River Watershed.  We welcome comments via Facebook or email.
